Eyelash extension: types, techniques, effects

Eyelash extension allows you to achieve the desired shape, length and curve effect of your eyelashes for a long time. It also allows to save time on daily makeup and on its removal in the evening. Extended eyelashes look more aesthetically pleasing and more natural than false eyelashes.

One to one (individual) technique for extending eyelashes performed by fixing each artificial eyelash to the natural eyelash using a special glue. Such eyelashes look the most natural, as the attachment of artificial eyelashes isn’t visible, and a correction is needed not that often, since the loss of the natural eyelash does not lead to a loss of the of extended bundle of lashes. Natural mink, sable fur, silk is used as a material for the eyelashes. The shortest hairs are attached to the eyelashes at the inner corner of the eye, gradually increasing their length towards the outer corner. Lashes made from natural materials does not tolerate moisture and heat well.

American eyelash extension - it is the technique similar to the one to one, but hairs (lashes) made of synthetic materials: silicone or rubber. Synthetic hairs are not afraid of contact with water and sudden changes in temperature.

Indonesian – lashes are attached with a special glue containing vitamin complex to strengthen natural eyelashes.

Volume extension (also known as Russian) - creating volume of eyelashes (2D-5D), which is achieved by attaching mini-bunches of 2 to 5 eyelashes to each natural eyelash. There is no effect of "false eyelash" achieved due to hairs used are 0.07 mm thick.

Bunches (bundle) extension - is a fast method, where small bunches are attached. The disadvantages of this method are not very natural appearance and not long period of use.

Types of extensions

Corners Extension - attaching artificial hairs from the outer corner of the eye to the middle of the ciliary edge. If customer's eyelashes are naturally light, they need to be painted before the procedure, since it is impossible to use a mascara after the extension.

Partly (incomplete) extension - allows to add volume to long and thin eyelashes. For this, attached hairs have the same length as the natural eyelashes.

Full extension - increases the volume and length of the eyelashes along the entire eyelash line. When using this technique with high-quality materials, its effect lasts up to 2-3 months.

2-Row Extensions (3D) - enables to highlight eyes. Achieved by extension with 2 artificial hairs attached to 1 natural lash.

Types of bends

J - unnoticeable - the bend in the lower part of eyelashes. It looks like a slight, natural curve of the lashes.

B - slight - also imitates the natural curve but is more noticeable than J type. Suitable for almond shaped eyes.

C - medium - gives the effect of curling and allows to achieve the effect of “open eyes”. Suitable for girls who use curling mascara and eyelash curler.

D (CC) - medium - used for deep-set eyes, with the eyelashes that grow down. It visibly corrects minor imperfections.

M - strong - the curve allows to extend the length and volume significantly. It allows to correct the overall appearance of the eyelashes that tend to grow down.

U - very strong - gives a "doll lashes" effect. Suitable for evening make-up. Not suitable for the convex shape of the eyes.

L - very strong - suitable for oriental eyes type, and deep-set eyes, as well as for those who wear glasses.

L +  - very strong – it is more flowing that L type. It provides an open-eye effect. It looks more natural.

Length and thickness of Materials

Mink (0.1-0.12 mm) - thin and light hairs that look like natural eyelashes.

Sable (0.1-0.25 mm) - thicker hairs that give the effect of mascara. They make the look heavier, not long lasting.

Silk (0.07-0.2 mm) - the thinnest and lightest hairs. Provides volume and length without weighing the lashes them down. Suitable for daily wear but does not tolerate high temperatures and constant contact with moisture. Thick silk lashes have a smooth glossy texture.

Synthetic (silicone or rubber) – practical and do not afraid of contact with water. Harder than natural materials. Suitable for creating a dramatic effect, for creating a festive look.

Eyelash thickness: 0.1 mm - creates a natural looking eyelash. Suitable for everyday wear, do not make your eyes look heavy, and last for a long time.

0.15 mm - gives the effect of natural eyelashes with a mascara. Lasts medium period.

0.2 mm - thick and hard hairs that are used to create evening look. Not recommended for everyday wear.

0.25 mm - gives the effect of "false eyelashes". They life is short due to the large weigh. Suitable for festive events.

Eyelash Extension Effects

Natural - used to make eyelashes look fuller, but natural. Hairs 6-10 mm long are used, but they shouldn’t be longer than natural eyelashes by more than 2 mm. Suitable for almond-shaped eyes.

Fox eyes effect – gives a smooth increase of the length to the outer corner of the eyes. Suitable for round eyes, for close-set eyes.

Squirrel eyes effect – suitable for almond and convex eyes. The accent of the length goes to the outer corners of the eyes, making the eye look more oblique.

Radiant (sparse) – achieved by the use of alternately short bristles corresponding to the natural length along with long eyelashes. The result is the effect of "wet" eyelashes - length and volume without weighting.

Dolls eyes effect - not applicable for everyday wear. Long hairs (12-16mm) with a curve. The length is the same along the entire eye line.

Cocktail - suitable for photo shoots and performances. Along with black, coloured eyelashes are added along the entire line, or in the outer corner of the eye.

Millennium – also suitable for photo shoots and performances. Here used not only long and coloured eyelashes, but also rhinestones, feathers and other decorative elements.

Fixing materials

Rubber glue is a chemically treated rubber. It rarely causes allergies, glues eyelashes reliably, it is also not expensive. Most often it is made in black.

Latex glue - used for bunches and contains rubber powder. Takes a long time to dry for, as it is very viscous. May cause allergies. Suitable for natural and artificial hairs.

Silicone glue - is transparent, hypoallergenic and durable. It is waterproof and high temperatures proof. Suitable only for bunches.

Resin glue - consists of wood resin, gives a strong hold, water resistant. Suitable natural and synthetic materials. May cause allergies.
